Lake Malawi, nearly 600 kilometers long and up to 80 kilometers wide, dominates the countryside. The Rift Valley is an ancient geological formation with fertile soils. Everywhere you go in Malawi one sees evidence of this.
Liwonde National Park
The 58,000 hectare Liwonde National Park is situated in the south of Malawi and is the country’s premier wildlife reserve. Liwonde incorporates the huge scenic Shire River as well as quiet backwaters and lagoons, marshes, open savannah country, woodland and hills in the interior of the park.
Nyika National Park
Nyika is Malawi’s largest park with an area of no less than 1250 sq miles (3200 sq km). It extends across the great plateau which is essentially a granitic dome and its environment is like none other in the whole of Africa.
A concentration of small lodges, each having its own beach, is found around Chintheche. These are some of the best beaches on the lake. The lodges include Chintheche Inn, which offers luxury accommodation combined with a safari-like experience
of the area; and the charming Makuzi Beach Lodge, with its individually decorated stone chalets.
Kande Beach is one of the best places to chill out and relax along the shores of lake Malawi with clear blue water that is safe from parasites and pollution white golden sand that is clean and soft to touch and safe swimming with shallow depth and free of rocks or obstacles we have shaded seating areas near the beach, beach umbrellas and hammocks.
It lies to the east of Blantyre and is easily accessible. Visitors can drive round the foot of the massif in a day but even more attractive is to trek and camp on the mountains.
